Lovely Gift
Eyes of the earth and the sky,
and I am mesmerized.
By the silver waters on lips,
Smelling of nectar and green tea.
Paint my skin with ink and sun,
the warmth I've been waiting so long for has begun.
With a breath of distraction,
A tilt of the head,
Leaning forward to hear what was said.
Still too loud to hear,
With all thoughts so near.
I cannot hear what I want to be said,
but perhaps in the dark where no voice speaks but our own,
It would tell me and let it's thoughts be known.
Like a rose in my palm, held close to my heart,
A secret, a gift,
In whole and not part.
Like a song on my tongue,
With rhythm, with rhyme,
A heartbeat so shy,
It invaded my mind.
As a comfort, a light,
A candle at night,
A wonder to ears,
and a beauty to sight.
